Earning Badges

As part of our termly program, all Guides will have the opportunity to work towards gaining interest badges.  These will be a unit wide badges chosen by the leaders after a PowWow with the girls. However Guides are also encouraged to complete badges on their own or as a Patrol.  All of the syllabuses can be found online.  We will also publish the details of any badges we are doing as a unit and highlight what will need to be done in addition to meetings.

In addition we will spend 4 sessions each term working on a Go For It.  These are mini-challenges picked and organised by the girls in their patrols.  When organising these sessions the girls will have to choose and plan the activities, arrange for all equipment and resources to be provided and carry out the activities in a safe and competent manner.

When a Guide joins the unit she will receive her G-File and Guide bag. This is used in conjunction with meetings to help the

Guide develop her understanding of herself, her community and the world.  We will make sure that all the girls are given ample

opportunity to understand the ideas in the book, and build on these to work towards her badges.

Each year the guides will work towards their Guide Challenge Badges.  These badges demonstrate the girls commitment

to guiding by taking part in a variety of different guiding activities. For more details please see here

Towards the end of their time in Guides she will work towards her Baden Powell award. This can be started after they have been a Guide for 2 years, and includes many different activities, and culminates in an adventure weekend.  More details can be found here

Guides are also offered the opportunity of earning their Commonwealth Award or Camp Permit
